GITI Kohima graduates urged to take risks in pursuit of employment

Kohima, September 19 (MExN): The Government Industrial Training Institute (GITI) in Kohima hosted its 2nd convocation ceremony at the GITI complex on September 19. The event was graced by Kovi Meyase, Additional Secretary & Ex-Officio Director of Employment, Skill & Entrepreneurship as the guest of honour, stated a DIPR report. 

Addressing the convocation, Kovi Meyase urged the graduates to take immense pride in their accomplishments and emphasised the importance of honest hard work in securing employment. He drew attention to the alarming unemployment rate among youths in the state, reporting that as of April 2023, the State had 70,000 unemployed youths, ranking fourth in the country.
He urged the graduates to broaden their horizons beyond white-collar jobs, encouraging them to venture into different fields and be willing to take risks in their pursuit of employment.

He underscored the significance of their diplomas, noting that they would remain mere pieces of paper without proactive steps toward gainful employment. Meyase also expressed gratitude to the Principal and staff of GITI Kohima for their contributions and celebrated their achievement of a remarkable 98% pass rate.

Er Enchiba Longkumer, Principal, GITI Kohima recognised and congratulated the meritorious students who excelled in their respective trades, including Redeem Mahg in the Carpenter trade with 85.67%, Liche Kupa in the Mechanic Diesel trade with 85%, Chumbenthung in the Plumber trade with an impressive 93.16%, and Kevilenuo Rupre-o in the Cutting & Sewing trade with 89.60%. He officially conferred the status of graduates upon all the successful candidates.

The programme featured address from teaching faculty member Lhouneilie Zatsu, musical performance titled ‘Time of Our Life’ by Nuhulu Rhakho, the awarding of certificates by the Principal, guest of honour, and other officials, commissioning prayer by Dr Ruokuovilie Sachu from Khedi Baptist Church, valedictory speech by Liche Kupa and words of gratitude by Kesalhoukho Casavi.
