Global Gorkhaland ‘Unity March’ today

Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) in collaboration with sister Gorkha NGOs of the State will hold a peaceful rally as part of the ‘Global Gorkhaland Unity March’ on July 30 across Nagaland.

“Through the rally we not only want to convey our solidarity to the demand of the Indian Gorkhas for creation of Gorkhaland in India. We will send out a loud and clear message that we have the majority and we will not be intimidated. We will raise one single voice for our rights and to live and thrive in India, our country and motherland,” asserted a statement from Publicity Committee, Global Gorkhaland Unity March, Kohima, Nagaland.  

“We will march for the dreams and aspirations of our children. We will march to lend our voices to our suffering brothers and sisters in Darjeeling. We will march for our identity, our language, our culture and our birthright in India. We will march for peace.” In Kohima, the Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) in association with sister Gorkha NGOs is initiating the rally. The Gorkhas in and around Kohima will converge at GPPK Complex, Chandmari at 1:00 pm, where a brief programme will be held.  

Thereafter, peace rally will be carried out till Raj Bhavan and a memorandum will be submitted to the Prime Minister of India through the Nagaland Governor demanding fulfillment of the demand for separate statehood for Darjeeling. GPP Kohima President, Santu Thapa has urged every Gorkha to be a part of the rally to “achieve our common cause.”
