
Guest lecture held at C-Edge College Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): A guest lecture on the topic ‘Global Social Economic Trends’ was held on June 9 at C-Edge College, Dimapur with Benjamin Ng, a Social Entrepreneur from Dallas, Texas, USA, as the guest speaker. It was attended by the students and faculty from Management Studies and Economics Department.
An MBA graduate from MIT Business School, former strategic business consultant at Ernst & Young and also a former investment banker at Morgan Stanley, two of the largest professional and financial services firms in the word, Benjamin talked about how the national economy will be affected by the size of the working population and the average productivity of the workers.
He further broke down the size of the working population to the population growth, workers population and immigration, and also the average productivity of the workers to the education system, technology and innovation, capital investment and market system, informed a press release.
The guest speaker also gave detailed references to the economy of USA, Europe, China and India. He encouraged the students to work really hard and get their “hands dirty” meaning to do manual, menial or other hard physical work instead of staying unemployed.
The lecture ended with an interactive session with the students and faculty equally raising questions related to the topic as well as the guest speaker’s professional experiences.
The guest lecture is one of the many sessions held regularly at the college so that the students as well as the faculty will get international exposure from external resource persons to broaden their knowledge and minds, the release added.
