Khezhakeno | April 7 : Naga legendary village- Khezhakeno in Phek district today got Government High School after 58 year long existence as primary/middle school. Unveiling the monolith for upgradation of Government Middle School to that of Government High School here this morning, Neiba Kronu, deputy chairman, State Planning Board (SPB) called for effective functioning of the school ahead.
On the other hand, he reminded the cabinet decision that the government would henceforth derecognize those schools which are not performing well. In this, he called upon the teachers, village education committee and community as a whole to ensure that proper supervision is done so that the school achieve to the mark of excellence. Kronu, asserted that many developmental activities are taking place in 16th Pfutsero Assembly Constituency during DAN ministry under the chief ministership of Neiphiu Rio.
Also speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour, Imkonglemba, IAS, commissioner & secretary school education talked at length on the streamlining of education system in Nagaland and hoped that such new educational management will go a long way in bringing new paradigm shift in the Naga society. He assured the villagers that the requirement of the teachers to this newly GHS Khezhakeno will be done and at the same time a new school building will be constructed. Merit students from this school will also be entitled for scholarship and also best merit student produce from this school would avail excursion package being extended by the state government.
Touching on the communitization programme in the state, he looks forward collective responsibility in the management of schools and the growth of the education. The commissioner and secretary also called upon the intellectual group in the respective village of the state to go to the root of educational management by extending local resources, like extra tuition to students and incentive to those students performing well in their academic career.
Timikha Koza, president, Gauhati High Court Bar Association Kohima Bench, Khalopoto Ladu and Vivotso, both former VCC also spoke on the occasion. Alongside special numbers from various educational institutions, the trio- Kevekha Kevin Zehol, deputy secretary finance department, Lakha Koza, deputy commandant NAP and Pfükrulhou Koza, BDO Kohima enthralled the audience with an item “Blessed Redeemer.”
