GNF condoles

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 2 (MExN): The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has expressed sorrow over the passing of Tapan Bose, describing him as a relentless advocate for Naga rights and a friend who never wavered in his support for the people’s struggle.

In a statement, the forum highlighted Bose’s unwavering commitment to justice and accountability, noting that he was among the few who truly listened and understood the aspirations of the Nagas. His advocacy, they said, was not driven by convenience but by a firm belief in the fundamental right of a people to determine their own future.

GNF recalled Bose’s concern over the slow progress of political negotiations and his advocacy for greater intervention by Naga civil society organizations. The forum also noted his disappointment over unresolved issues, particularly the lack of accountability for the Oting massacre. He urged Nagas to be more resolute in their demands and actions. Beyond his activism, GNF described him as a principled and consistent individual who, alongside his wife Rita, welcomed many Nagas into their home as friends rather than just colleagues.
