GNF mourns loss of a cherished visitor to Hornbill

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 9 (MExN): The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death of Nigel Richard Goodman, a 67-year-old international tourist from Bradford, UK, who passed away on the evening of December 7 while attending the Hornbill Festival in Kisama.

In a statement, the GNF extended heartfelt condolences to Goodman’s grieving family and friends, acknowledging the loss of a visitor who had come to celebrate the festival. "His presence at the festival was an honor for us, reflecting the global appeal of our cultural celebration," the Forum said.

The GNF expressed regret that an esteemed international guest passed away during a time when people from diverse backgrounds were immersed in the joy of the Hornbill Festival, preparing for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The Forum noted that this tragic incident serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life, even amidst moments of great joy.

The Forum further appealed to the concerned authorities in Nagaland to handle Goodman’s remains with the utmost care and dignity, ensuring that this gesture reflects the true spirit of Naga hospitality and respect for visitors, which the region is known for worldwide.
