AYO & KMC promotes organic market in Kohima

The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) have initiated a weekly organic market here at Kohima Local Ground with the theme “Go Organic, Buy Local.”

Henceforth, this market will open every Wednesday towards North Gate of Kohima Local Ground from 6:00 AM onwards.

This initiative is intended to promote local produce and products with focus on its promotion to generate and establish a sustainable local economy.

This market was formally inaugurated today by Kevinourheno Seyie, Chairman, Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Kohima.

Seyie thanked AYO & KMC for opening this market to uplift the womenfolk.

She encouraged the farmers to grow more organic vegetables.

She also urged upon the womenfolk to give special attention towards packaging and marketing of the produces.

The price should also be reasonable and stable, she said.

She assured that APMC Kohima will also work out modalities soon to organize a combined sales day alongwith AYO and KMC.

AYO Khriekesa Pelikro secretary Zakie Khate said the AYO & KMC have initiated this noble idea to create business opportunity especially to the women folk to sell organic produces and strengthen the economy.

Meanwhile, AYO president Kekhrie Pfukha invited the womenfolk to be part of this weekly market, which have been initiated to boost the economy.

As more space still available, womenfolk can contact AYO officials to grab the opportunity.
