‘God does not distinguish between male and female’

Yimchunger Baptist Church Dimapur celebrates silver jubilee

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): The Yimchunger Baptist Church Dimapur (YBCD) celebrated its 25th anniversary from January 21 to 22, 2017.

Dr. Toshila, Women Secretary, YBBA, while speaking on the first day of the programme, maintained that gender inequality was prevalent for many centuries, but with the coming of Christ came his unconditional love and the chain of inequality has been set free.

She asserted that equal preference and privilege should be honoured to girl child as well if we want to grow both spiritually and socially in our own lives, church or community. “God does not distinguish between male and female but sees all as children of God,” she stated, according to a press release received here.

She further quoted from the scripture (Galatians 5: 22-23) and encouraged the congregation to instill the fruit of the spirit, i.e., love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control in our daily lives and activities. “Change is enviable if we change our mindset,” she added.

K. Zungkum, Convenor, History Committee highlighted how YBCD came into being. In 1991, 22 households formed a fellowship and from there on the church was affiliated to YBBA in 1992 when Rev. Akum was its Executive Secretary. The church in the beginning was built through kind contribution of various Yimchungrü churches around Dimapur district and well wishers, he said thanking the doners.

A short speech was delivered by Akhrieo Kire, GB, Kuda ‘C’ khel, where he conveyed greetings to the present church leaders and members for attaining 25 years of existence and also appreciated the pioneers for their sacrifices and vision because of which YBCD is where it is today.

LK Among, former pastor, shared his memories as the first pastor of YBCD and the struggles, blessing and achievements. Acknowledging that it was an honour and privilege to serve at the church, he conveyed appreciation for the support he received from the members.
