God’s word for everyone

Rev Dr Yiepetso Wezah
Auxiliary Secretary, BSI

The Word of God is the breathed of God (2Tim 3:16). It is infallible, complete and authoritative. It is active and living. It transforms the life of individuals, churches and societies. It is so powerful. It is sharper than two edges of sword. It searches all inner thoughts and purifies them and transformed individuals to be saved in Christ (Heb. 4:12).

It teaches and guides people to the right path. It corrects and rebukes wrong doers. It inspires and motivates people to be responsible citizens to do good works.

The Word reveals who God is. What he wants. It reveals his love for human beings and the whole creation. It reveals the true nature of human beings.

Human moral and spiritual standards are measured according to his holy Word. His Word explains the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. It discloses the final destiny of humans. It redirects people to the right path to have a better life here on earth and hereafter.

Hence, everyone must be provided the Word of God in his/her preferred language. So that they will read, understand God’s will for their lives. They will obey God. They will experience the blessings of righteous and faithful life and spread the message to others.

BSI provides a huge subsidy

Since the inception of the Bible Society of India (BSI) in 1811, it has been translating, publishing and distributing the Holy Bible to the churches. It is giving a huge discount to the Churches. For the mission of Bible Society is to provide Bible at affordable price.

The BSI gives free Children’s Bible to poor children and distributes Bible to poor people who cannot afford to buy for themselves. It also provides Braille selections and White Sticks to blind people. It is possible only with the prayer and financial support of individual believers and Churches.

The World Bible Sunday

The Bible Sunday is observed every year in the first Sunday of December throughout the world. This year the world Bible Sunday falls on 6th December 2020. However, Churches observe Bible Sunday according to their own convenient Sunday due to many other local programmes.

The main objective is to celebrate the gift of God’s Word to us. It is a day of offering prayers for all those who are engaged in translation, publishing and distribution of God’s Word. It is a day to pray for supporters of the ministry of the Bible Society of India. It is also a day of giving free will offering for the ministry of translation, publishing and distribution of God’s Word.

Under Dimapur Auxiliary, there are 111 tribes and sub-tribes. The Bible Society of India has translated 40 full Bibles and 13 New Testament additional.

There are a few projects undergoing and some projects are about to be completed. The BSI goes on revising the existing text in order to update language and do rectify if there is any errors in the last printing.

There are still tremendous tasks ahead. In this challenging situation of COVID-19 pandemic, the Word of God must be provided to people in their preferred languages so that they can enjoy reading, understand and be transformed in Christ. This calls all the believers of Jesus Christ to participate in the mission and ministry of the Bible Society of India.
