Kohima, February 1 (MExN): A two-day training programme on ‘soil testing kit (digital mini-lab-Pusa STFR)’ is underway at State Soil Testing Laboratory, Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima. 


In his keynote address, K Khekiho Shohe, Joint Director stated that the Government of India has keen interest on soil health and its management for economic development. For which, soil health management scheme under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) is being implemented throughout the country. One such programme in the state is to be implemented by the department where the soil samples of the entire state will be collected, analyzed and rendered with prescriptions to enable the farmers and stake-holders to know their soil fertility status during agriculture crop production, Shohe addressed. 


He encouraged the trainees to participate with keen interest and learn on how to analyze soil samples accurately at the field levels using a friendly and portable instrument called Digital Mini-Lab-PUSA STFR that has the capacity to analyse seven samples in a day comprising of both macro and micro nutrients and other soil physical properties. 


Lipokmar Yaden, Deputy Director chaired the chairperson. Altogether 38 officers and staff from all the districts are attending the training.
