GoI Interlocutor Mishra holds ‘informal’ meeting at Hebron

An ‘informal’ meeting between the Government of India’s Interlocutor for the Naga peace talks AK Mishra and NSCN (IM) leaders took place at Hebron on Tuesday.

This is the first time that negotiations were held at the officially recognised headquarters of the NSCN in Nagaland.

According to a senior leader of the NSCN (IM), a formal meeting will be held at Chümoukedima April 22 and 23. 
Mishra who arrived in Nagaland on April 18 reportedly met with the Naga Hoho and Nagaland GB Federation. He is said to be on a week long visit to the state.

Meanwhile, a senior leader of the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPGs) informed that a meeting has been scheduled with the Interlocutor on April 21.

According to the PTI news agency, the NSCN (IM) 'home affairs kilonser' (minister) M Daniel Lotha confirmed the meeting and said that it was held for almost two hours at the NSCN (IM) headquarters.

“Mishra and Muivah have agreed to meet again before the interlocutor leaves for Delhi, he said but did not provide any details of Tuesday's meeting...Lotha expressed optimism that a solution to the long drawn Naga issue will be achieved soon if the Centre showed sincerity and seriousness,” the PTI report stated.

The report, citing officials, also stated that the Interlocutor will meet the state government's core committee on Naga Political Issue, which is headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and has Naga civil societies as its members.
