GoI renews CF with NSCN-K (Khango) & NSCN (R)

DIMAPUR, MARCH 7 (MExN): The Government of India renewed the ongoing, and separate, ceasefire (CF) agreements with two Naga Political Groups— the NSCN-K (Khango) and NSCN (R).

The NSCN-K (Khango) informed of the CF extension through a press release on March 7. It said that the ceasefire is being extended for a further one year period, with effect from April 18, 2024 till April 17, 2025, in the spirit of maintaining “peace in the state and modalities of resolving issues” and subject “to adherence to Ceasefire Ground Rules.” The NSCN-K (Khango) was represented by its Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), Supervisor, A Imyapangba Ao and Secretary, Mhoyamo Kithan.

The GoI extended another CF agreement with the NSCN (Reformation), for a period of one year, on the same day. The ongoing CF with the NSCN (R), which is set to expire on April 27, 2024, will continue to remain in effect from April 28 till April 27, 2025. The CF will be subject to adherence to the Ceasefire Ground Rules mutually agreed and signed by the two sides, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs. “To bring about a lasting peace in the State of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people,” was the spirit of the CF.

The NSCN (R) was represented by its CFSB Supervisor, Mughato Chophy and Secretary, Mompa Konyak.
