Going full retro, LOR delivers a blast from the past

A Fan's Tribute

Morung Express Feature   When you reach your thirties, music taste ‘matures’ and the evolving pop culture doesn’t necessarily fit your vibe. The raging numbers in your teens is no longer in vogue, relegated to private playlist in cars or phones.   For many, the excitement of hearing a new music for the first time loses its sparks and seldom do they actively seek new music, barring for academic interest. The platform for ‘my kind of music’ also suddenly becomes a rarity. But then comes along ‘Lords of Rock’ (LOR), blasting from the past and virtually shaking the ground with its debut concert on March 17 at The Garden in Dimapur.   LOR 2   Formed with a sole purpose to revive Classic Rock and delivering the sound and the feel of the 80’s Rock n’ Roll, LoR exceeded its expectation on Friday belting out the classic number without much ado, neatly backed with consummate acts on every sphere.   With years of experiences among them, the band with Imkumer Jamir (a.k.a. Akum Jams of EDM act Akummika) and Toshimoa Jamir on the Guitars; Akihito Zhimomi on Bass; Alemtemsu Ozukum on the Drums; and Clement Imsong on vocals, indeed is a collaborative effort of seasoned musicians of different bands and genres with an utmost mission.   In its first mission, Mother Nature almost played the spoilsport. However, she had other plan. The drizzles were just a ‘smoke on the water’ launched to anoint the band and the crowd as they immersed themselves in nostalgia and quality music.   The band cleverly stuck with popular classic rock anthems taking the crowd on a ‘crazy train’ and virtually ‘knockin’ on heaven’s door’ and giving the fans a ‘wonderful (to) night.’   It was not all timers alone in the crowd, numbering few thousands, but young teens were also seen having good times.   “Classic rock music is always going to resonate with our people and I guess it's what people have been longing to hear for a long time- and maybe that is also the reason why even the rain could not stop the real rock fans to come out last night!,” Imkumer, the band guitarist member opiand.   For a debut concert arranged in such a short period of time, the response was pretty overwhelming, he said contented with the response to its debut concert.   “As a musician, nothing is more encouraging than to have people come attend your show and say that they had a great time.”   Popular songs and a big crowd don’t necessarily guarantee a pounding gig. The band, however, killed the competition and won over the crowd with terrific guitar riffs as well as controlled vocalization and tempo deftly maneuvering the crowd on a memorable musical journey.   The acts never looked overwrought as the band members, each exactly aware of one’s role, effortlessly synthesized their exceptional talents into a virtuoso performance.   The eclectic offerings were not lost in the crowd as they sang along with each song and riffed in the air on every note, with the vocalist Clement Imsong ingeniously guiding them through the series of songs.   They were left asking for more as the LOR signed off from the stage after Eric Clapton’s, ‘Wonderful Tonight,’ and embarked to a new destination. Some lingered wishing the journey to continue.   Presently, the band has gigs scheduled in few major cities in the country besides working on original compositions and rehearsals.   “Talks are still on at the moment with the dates and venues so hopefully once it's confirmed, we'll update the information on our Facebook page so do Like our page and follow us on our rock journey,” Imkumer informed.
