The 2nd Patkai Trophy (Golden Jubilee Edition) commenced today promising a three day of exciting sporting competitions among over two dozen participating institutions in four sports disciplines.
The trophy was officially declared opened by Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries and Vice President of the Nagaland Football Association, followed by the inaugural football match between the defending champion Sakus Mission College (SKC) and St Joseph University (B-Team).

The SKU maintains its ‘unbeaten’ run by defeating the SJU-B 2-1.

Thereafter, competitions in four disciplines-football, basketball, volleyball, and badminton, started displaying intense contests and enthusiastic supports each team’s supporters.
Earlier during a brief opening ceremony, PCC (A) Dean of Student, Wetshete Joseph Thopi informed that the 2nd edition has attracted considerable interest from institutions across Nagaland, with registration surging from 16 last year to 26 this year.

Out of this, 25 teams from various higher secondary schools and colleges turn up for the event.

The opening also featured a powerful performance from the PCC (A)’s Margaret Shishak School of Music.

Under the theme “Celebrating Talents,” the 2nd Patkai Trophy is organised by Patkai Christian College (A) in collaboration with LiveNow Events, with The Morung Express as the media partner.
The three-day event will conclude on March 2.
