DIMAPUR, JULY 7 (MExN): The Gorkha Students' Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) held its 2nd Cultural and Literary Competition on July 6 and 7 at Singrijan Village Council Hall. The event was organized as part of the 210th Bhanu Jayanti celebration, which will take place on July 13 at CTC Hall, Chümoukedima Town.
Ajay Sharma, Joint Cultural Secretary, emphasized the importance of such events, stating, "These events are necessary for the Gorkha students as they provide valuable information about our culture to the community."
Chandra Subba, Vice President of Dimapur Gorkha Union and the special guest of the event, encouraged students to appreciate their culture and traditions, highlighting their role in learning. "Being united and working together will strengthen our Gorkha community in Nagaland," he remarked.
The two-day event featured various competitions, including singing, painting, cultural dance, extempore speech, and essay writing. Winners were awarded during the closing ceremony, and selected participants in cultural dance and singing will represent the union at the Bhanu Jayanti celebration on July 13, 2024.
The 210th Bhanu Jayanti celebration will feature Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Women Resource Development & Horticulture, as Chief Guest; Seyieneilhou Keyho, President of Chakhroma Youth Organisation, as Guest of Honour; and Joshua Limbu, President of Peren District Gorkha Union, as Special Invitee. Nikato Y Tamang will be the guest performer of the day.
