
Mokokchung, July 17 (MExN): The Gorkha Union Mokokchung organised a free medical camp for the Gorkha community in Mokokchung on July 16 at the Gorkha Community Hall Mokokchung.
The Medical Camp was supervised by Dr Abigail Rai, MBBS & PGD, Cosmetology and aesthetic. Dr Abigail Rai is the Medical officer of Impur Mission Hospital. The camp was initiated by a five member committee namely, Peter Aley, Convenor; Prashant Thapa, Co-convenor; Naresh Rai, member; Kapit Rai, member and Siraj Subba, member.
The Convenor said that the objective of organising the medical camp was to sensitize people on health and spread awareness. He added that the Gorkha community do not get such opportunities, so the camp was exclusively held for the Gorkha community so that they can exclusively avail free treatment and medication.
The free medicines that were provided to the patients were donated and sponsored by Dr & Mrs Hemant Rai, the parents of Dr Abigail Rai.
During the camp, free checkup for general cases, specialised skin consultation, Hepatitis and HIV tests, BP test were done. The doctor was assisted by nurses from Impur Mission Hospital.
A total of 50 patients were treated and provided free medicines.
