Gov asks Church leaders to create COVID awareness

DIMAPUR, APRIL 19 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi today held an interaction cum consultative meeting with Church leaders of various Christian denominations of Nagaland on the COVID-19 pandemic at Dr Imkongliba Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

The Governor discussed the COVID-19 situation in the country and the State. He told them that the Church leaders have moral and spiritual authority and influence over the people and therefore urged them to use their moral and spiritual capital to save our people from the pandemic. He advised the Church leaders to make the people more conscious and aware of the COVID-19 challenges and need for strictly adhering to the COVID-19 appropriate behaviours, informed a press release from the PRO to the Governor.

The Governor also expressed concern over inhibitions of people in Nagaland to receive vaccination and prevalence of adverse rumours in this regard. He advised the Church leaders to educate and encourage eligible persons to get vaccinated as the current ratio of vaccination in the State is one of the lowest in the country.

“In this extraordinary situation where the entire society is facing the stress due to COVID 19 pandemic,”

the Governor reminded the Church of their significant role. He meanwhile thanked the Church leaders for their suggestions which he said would be forwarded to the Government for follow-up.
