Gov attends Rajasthan State Foundation Day celebration

Kohima, April 12 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav attended the celebration of Rajasthan State Foundation Day at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on April 11.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor extended greetings to the people of Rajasthan and members of the Rajasthan community residing in Nagaland. Highlighting the state’s cultural and historical legacy, he described Rajasthan as the “Land of Kings,” symbolising courage, honour and royal heritage. He referred to its iconic forts, vibrant traditions, folk arts, and the legacy of valour represented by figures such as Maharana Pratap.

He said that celebrating Rajasthan Divas in Nagaland holds special significance as both states, though geographically distant, share strong traditions, community values, and resilience. He added that such occasions reflect the essence of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, fostering unity, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding.

The Governor appreciated the Rajasthan community in Nagaland for contributing to social harmony, friendship, and economic activities in the state. He noted that such events provide an opportunity to celebrate India’s diversity while reinforcing a shared national identity.

Encouraging youth, he urged them to embrace the ideals of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat by learning about the cultures, languages, and traditions of different states and becoming ambassadors of national unity.

He called for renewed commitment towards national integration, fraternity, and cultural pride, and wished for continued harmony among all communities.

Delivering the welcome address, Joint Secretary to the Governor, Fiirhesie Nyuwi, highlighted the significance of the occasion.

The programme featured cultural performances showcasing traditions of Rajasthan, including dances by Teej Group, Navratri Group, Holi Group and Diwali Group, along with a traditional Chang Dhamal performance.
