Gov expresses displeasure over delayed road projects

Kohima, December 7 (MExN): Nagaland Governor RN Ravi held a review meeting with senior officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), in connection with the ongoing road projects in the state, on December 5.

Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam, Director General of Police T John Longkumer and other senior officials of the State Government were also present in the meeting which was held at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima, according to a press release from the Governor’s PRO on Monday.

“The Governor was shocked and expressed serious displeasure to NHIDCL for not keeping their assurances on the progress of the Kohima-Dimapur 4-lane Highway construction. Although the project was scheduled for completion in August 2019, even after 15 months of overshooting the deadline the completion of the project is not in sight,” the release stated.

This is despite the fact that the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari had taken interest in it and created an office of the Regional Director, NHIDCL at Kohima for speedy execution of the work, it added.

The release further stated that the Governor reminded the NHIDCL of how the people of Nagaland have been suffering due to lack of their interests. The Governor is also taking up the matter with the Minister, MoRTH in this regard, it added.
