Government contemplating to upgrade Khelhoshe Polytechnic to Civil Engineer College

Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along today said that the government is contemplating to upgrade Khelhoshe Polytechnic to Civil Engineer College.


Replying this to MLA Er Picto Shohe in starred question on the floor of the House, the minister said that as per All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guideline and regulations, accreditation from National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi is mandatory for upgradation of existing diploma programme to degree course.


The Directorate of Technical Education and the Institute (KPA) are jointly working for getting accreditation from NBA.


The minister stated that the Institute has so far completed first phase registration and pre-qualified stage and the same has been approved by AICTE.


As per AICTE’s requirement, the self assessment report will be submitted before 30th September 2019.


“Once SAR is accepted by AICTE, the external assessor will come for assessment. Hence, NBA will be done,” the Minister said.


Once accreditation is completed, it shall move for upgradation, the minister stated.


Earlier, during the question hour, replying to a starred question raised by MLA Yitachu, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton informed the House that there were complaints on the issue of expulsion under Meluri Area Public Organization for voting and not voting in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election and added that no authority has the right to expel any citizen for exercising his/her electoral franchise and therefore if found true, necessary action can be initiated under the relevant provision of laws.


Yitachu told the House to form Joint Parliamentary Committee and initiate necessary inquiry.


Minister for Rural Development Metsubo Jamir today stated that 12 Block Development Officer (BDO) officers are under rented buildings in the state.


Replying this to MLA Yitachu in unstarred question, the furnished the list of 13 BDO offices under rented building since 2013 as; BDO Weziho, BDO Sechu Zubza, BDO Botsa, BDO Chunlikha, BDO Panso, BDO Ralan, BDO Ralan, BDO Akuhaito, BDO Satoi, BDO Sakshi, BDO Chümoukedima, BDO Aghunaqa and BDO Athibung.
The Minister said the department has constructed 62 BDO office buildings.


Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also minister in-charge of school education and SCERT today said the 633 Physical Education Teachers, Drawing Teachers, Carpentry and Knitting Instructors were appointed under SSA and SSA upgraded Government Middle Schools in the state.


Replying this to MLA Yitachu in unstarred question, Rio furnished the detail as: PETs- 211, DTs- 211, C/Is- 126 and K/Is- 85.


The chief minister said that the appointment has been discontinued by the department from July 2018 due to shortage of fund under SSA programme.
