KOHIMA, MAY 8 (MExN): An awareness programme on the State Government Salary Package was held at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Conference Hall in Kohima on May 8. The programme was organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI).
Sonia Bhuyan, Corporate Salary Relationship Manager at SBI Administrative Office, Jorhat, attended as the resource person and explained the features and benefits of the SBI Salary Package Account for government employees. She was accompanied by Alan Haokip, Branch Manager of SBI Treasury Branch, Kohima.
According to the details shared during the programme, the package offers a zero-balance account with no quarterly average balance requirement, a free debit card with no annual charges, unlimited free transactions at SBI ATMs, free NEFT/RTGS transfers, no charges on demand drafts, and up to 50 percent discount on locker rent. The package also includes an auto-sweep facility and free SMS alerts.
Bhuyan informed that the package provides Personal Accidental Insurance cover of up to Rs 1.10 crore, including duty and off-duty coverage, while Air Accidental Insurance cover is available up to Rs 2.6 crore. She also stated that term life insurance cover up to Rs 10 lakh and top-up health insurance for employees and dependents at low premiums are included.
Additional emergency support benefits include education cover up to Rs 10 lakh, girl child marriage support up to Rs 10 lakh, air ambulance cover up to Rs 10 lakh, imported medicine transport cover up to Rs 5 lakh, family transportation and ambulance charges up to Rs 50,000 each, and plastic surgery or burn treatment support up to Rs 10 lakh.
The package further provides coverage for permanent total disability up to Rs 1 crore and partial disability up to Rs 80 lakh.
Lifestyle benefits linked to the RuPay debit card include airport lounge visits, OTT subscriptions, Swiggy One membership, annual health check-ups, spa benefits, golf access, and purchase protection up to Rs 2 lakh.
Officials informed that the package has been categorised into five segments for permanent employees — Rhodium, Platinum, Diamond, Gold and Silver — based on salary brackets. Members were advised to ensure nominee registration and submission of mandatory documents, including death certificates and post-mortem reports, to avail benefits.
The sensitisation session was also conducted at the Directorates of Fire and Emergency Services, Urban Development, Municipal Affairs and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services.
Bhuyan also informed that pensioners are covered under the comprehensive salary package.
