The Government High School, Midland, Kohima, was officially inaugurated by Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Government of Nagaland on March 12.
During the event, the Minister thanked Dr Kekrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education, and the School Education Department for their prompt efforts in upgrading the school to GHS from GMS.
Kruse highlighted the importance of government schools, encouraging the community to support and utilize these institutions. She also informed about the benefits provided to students in the form of midday meals, free uniforms and textbooks.
The Minister reflected on the school’s journey, which began as a Lower Primary School in 1967 and has now grown into a full-fledged Government High School. Today, it has an enrollment of 177 students, with 27 students in Class 9.
She reiterated that the government schools provide quality education with qualified teachers and that a strong education system is the foundation of a better society and a brighter future.
The inauguration took place in the presence of Razouseyi Vese, Director of School Education, along with other officials and dignitaries. A report on the school upgradation was presented by Viphrezo Zao, Chairman, SMC Midland, Kohima.
Earlier, the programWme was chaired by Sedeneinuo Mercy Rutsa, with an Invocation by Pastor Neisalie Rossi of Midland Baptist Church, Kohima.
Welcome address was delivered by Mhashesuno Mekro, Head Teacher. The programme also witnessed NIPUN Bharat presentation song by students of GMS and while vote of thanks was proposed by by Kopelo Krome, Chairman, Midland Council, Kohima.
