Kohima, December 13 (DIPR): The Government of Nagaland has declared the Planning & Coordination Department as the Nodal Department for Gender Budgeting and Gender Mainstreaming with immediate effect. A Gender Budgeting Cell in the Planning & Coordination Department headed by Aolemla Jamir, Joint Development Commissioner is set up along with the following Planning Officials: Melunglungbo Zeliang, Statistician; Vilhouno, Assistant Planning Officer; Tesinle, Assistant Planning Officer; Imlikokba Longkumer, Assistant Planning Officer. The duties of the Cell will include analysis of the budget of the Departments to facilitate gender sensitisation/orientation programme, evaluate impact of programmes.
Services of Consultants to be engaged for the budget analysis in the initial stages. All Development Departments will designate a Gender Development Officer within the Department and nominate the name of the officer to the Planning Department by December 15. To gender mainstream, review public expenditure and policy from gender perspective, a Gender Task Force/Core Group is constituted headed by Banuo Z. Jamir, IAS, ACS & Commissioner, Nagaland. Members of the Core Group are to be drawn from the Government Departments, Civil Societies and from the Judiciary.
