Dimapur, August 15 (MExN): Affirming the DAN government’s commitment for the uplift of youths, the Minister for Planning & Coordination, Evaluation and Parliamentary Affairs, T R Zeliang, said today that the new ‘Nagaland Recruitment from Public Employment Act 2009’ is going to ensure there is equitable job avenues for the people of the state. “This will open job opportunities to many of our educated unemployed youths,” Zeliang, the chief guest at the Independence Day celebration in Dimapur, said. The Minister underlined the need for Nagas to keep pace with the economic growth in other parts of the country and the world. Zeliang said the state has not lost sight of any of its own inherent capital and appreciated the efforts of the youth in contributing to the growth of the state. He said, “The state is endowed with a young and vibrant workforce that will provide much needed impetus to growth and dynamism.” Pointing out to the youths today, the Minister added that the state is experiencing a positive change in attitude of the youth towards employment in non-traditional sectors.
Notwithstanding the number of educated unemployed youths in the state, Zeliang appreciated the changing mindset of seizing opportunities in the business and professional sectors with success. He said the interest shown by private companies in investing and recruiting Naga youths is encouraging and hoped the ongoing ceasefire and peace talks will further help in promoting a climate of peace and economic growth in the state.
