Kohima, August 19 (DIPR): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has called upon all sections of people to reiterate their goal in building a powerful, prosperous, and peaceful India.
In his Raksha Bandhan greetings, Acharya also urged the people to stand united and economically strengthen the state for a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland.
The Governor further appealed to the people to stop discrimination manifested through gender bias such as sex selection and post birth discrimination against girl child. An appeal was also made to sponsor girl child under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (save daughter, educate daughter) scheme to save and empower girl child by sponsoring a girl who can be educated with Rs. 2,500/- per year. Anyone willing to sponsor can deposit the amount as per their desire to SBI A/C No. 35843617072 in favour of Beti Bachao Beti Badhao scheme, SBI Kohima main branch, IFSC: SBIN000214. Meanwhile, the Governor urged the people to support the 33% reservation for women, which he said, is mandatory as per the Constitution. The Government has taken the right step in empowering the women and giving them opportunity in every field of life, including politics, he asserted.
