Governor encourages people of Tuensang

Tuensang, January 30 (DIPR): The Governor of Nagaland, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, arrived in Tuensang via Shamator today, where he made a brief stop to interact with the public led by the local MLA, Parliamentary Secretary R. Tohanba.

Dr. Kumar visited the Tuensang Civil Hospital where he appreciated the social service rendered by the doctors and nurses to the people of far flung areas. He encouraged the nurse trainees for having taken up professional courses where their career is assured. He desired that the Operation Theatre facilities be modernised and supported the proposals towards its improvement and in deployment of trained nursing staff. He expressed that posting of professionals should be appropriately done based on their qualifications to equivalent positions and places of postings should preferably be to their native districts. He was accompanied by Minister for Education, C.M. Chang, DC Tuensang and other dignitaries.

The Governor also paid a visit to Tuensang Village where he visited the Changsang Memorial, while the cultural troupe performed the traditional log drum beats and cultural songs and dances. In the evening he held a meeting with HODs where almost all District Officers shared their departmental functions and activities. The Governor expressed appreciation to all the department officers and staff posted in this remote area for their services to the people in their various capacities and assured the officers that the Government is with them in all their efforts in the various programmes of their respective Departments. He also intimated the officers that their requirements and difficulties have been taken note of for necessary action. He agreed with the views expressed particularly pertaining to improvement of roads and other amenities.

The Governor also granted interview to the ENPO to hear their views and expressed to them that he has come to listen to them and also to see the ground realities of the area in person. After hearing their discontent over the imbalance in development of the area, the Governor assured them that for all community facilities development shall be looked into by the Government, however for individual improvement each person should make personal efforts. He also expressed that as and when funds are provided for development activities, proper utilisation of funds should be ensured by all. He stated that there should be no reason for unhappiness if we strive together today towards progress and development for a better tomorrow.
