Governor: Institutions also responsible for implementation of flagship schemes

DIMAPUR, APRIL 17 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has said implementation of central and state welfare flagship schemes is not only the responsibility of the government agencies but also the responsibility of the empowering agencies like universities, colleges and schools.  

The Governor was addressing a meeting with representatives from various universities in Nagaland, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Hindustan Scouts and Guides, Rajya Sainik Board and NEZCC on April 17 at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.  

The Governor explained that there were a number of schemes and welfare programmes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Yyoti Bima Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Account, Mudra Bank etc which are beneficial for the welfare and upliftment of the people. He however observed that most people are not aware of the various programmes, a press release received from the PRO to Governor stated.  

In this connection, the Governor stressed on the need for all concerned including students to be more aware of the schemes and to take advantage of them and also disseminate information about these schemes in their areas.  

Governor Acharya also stated that skill up-gradation was very important and institutions should focus on making their students employable and entrepreneurs. The Government of India, he said, has introduced Mudra schemes targeted for helping students, especially from the weaker section of the society to become entrepreneurs.  

He also called for implementation of skill development courses in all institutions which will prove beneficial for jobs, self-employment and empowerment of the students.
