Governor La Ganesan with the delegation from the International Border Awareness Forum of Northeast and Nagaland Village Guard Association on November 4.
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 6 (MExN): A delegation from the International Border Awareness Forum of Northeast (Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar) and the Association of Nagaland Village Guard met with La Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland, to discuss critical issues related to infrastructure and security in the state’s border regions on November 4.
A press release issued by Shomwang Wangnao, General Secretary of the International Border Awareness Forum of Northeast (SCMP) Nagaland State Committee stated that during the meeting, the delegation raised two major concerns- the construction of a two-lane road connecting Mon district to Avankhu, passing through several remote villages, and the need for improved salaries and allowances for Nagaland Village Guards stationed along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The road project, which aims to enhance connectivity and development in the border areas, has faced delays, particularly in the Kiphire-Pungro region, where local villagers have requested a resurvey to ensure the route follows the original survey order. These delays have extended the timeline for the completion of the road, the press release stated.
The delegation also emphasized the crucial role of the Nagaland Village Guards in maintaining security along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border. They urged the Governor to consider increasing the salaries and allowances for these guards.
Governor Ganesan acknowledged the significance of both issues and expressed his support for the development and security of the border areas. He assured the delegation that he would work to address these concerns and advocate for the necessary measures to support the community and improve infrastructure.
