Governor meets HoDs of Kohima district

• Asks to check teachers’ absenteeism and implement Mid Day Meal

• Urges officers to reach out to poor people and enlighten on schemes  

Kohima, June 23 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya had an interaction with all the Head of Departments (HoDs) of Kohima district to review various departmental performances and activities at Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall, Kohima on June 22.  

Acharya discussed at length with the officers on the performances, requirements, capacity and plans of each department, according to a DIPR report.  

He stressed on the implementation of various projects and issues relating to road maintenance, electricity, water supply, agri and allied sector etc.  

Stating that the district officers are the pillars of development in the district, Acharya called upon them to contribute their services with humanity in their respective areas to strengthen the society and to bring more development in the district.  

Education, he further maintained, is one of the most important sectors to strengthen the society. Therefore, the Governor asked the department concerned to take note of its importance in regard to teachers’ absenteeism and also the implementation of Mid Day Meal for better performance in future.  

Opining that Nagaland is rich, but Nagas are poor, Acharya also noted that Nagaland has potential with many talented people in various fields and urged the officers to change their mindset and march ahead so as to solve the problems in future, the report added.  

The Governor also appealed to the officers to reach out to the poorest of poor people and enlighten them on the availability of various Central and State flagship programmes and also to identify the beneficiaries to avail the opportunities for the upliftment of the poor people.  

He further urged the officers to motivate their own departmental staffs to contribute their services in their respective areas for the upliftment of the society.  

Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS) and Senior Superintendent of Police Kohima, Vekhosa Chakhesang were also present in the meeting besides the other HoDs of the district.
