Kohima, March 1 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has extended greetings on the occasion of Holi to the people of Nagaland in particular and the country in general. Terming Holi as a colourful and vibrant festival, the Governor said that the festival strengthens fraternity and togetherness amongst the people and spreads peace, prosperity in the society.
In his message, Governor Acharya said Holi signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter. It is also a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive and repair broken relationships, he added.
The Governor appealed to the people to let the spirit of Holi rise above all barriers and strengthen the social fabric to make Nagaland shine by bringing the society together with the spirit of forgiveness and renewing friendship.
It is also a good time to spread the message of peace, joy and love across society and to celebrate unity in diversity, he added. “May this festival of colours strengthen the bonds of friendship and go a long way in promoting brotherhood and unity among the people” the Governor wished.
Holi Milan at Kohima
The Holi Milan Celebration Committee, Kohima, is organizing Holi Milan ‘The Festival of Colours’ at the Gorkha Public Panchayat Complex, opp Govt. Printing Press, Chandmari, Kohima on March 2 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The festival of Holi signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It is also celebrated as a thanks giving for a good harvest.
The highlights of the celebration will be colour-play (dry and wet colours), refreshment and cultural programme besides music and dance.
