Kohima, March 20 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav held a meeting with officials of the Department of Health & Family Welfare at Naga Bhavan Conference Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on March 20.
The meeting was led by Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, S Tainiu. During the meeting, the department made a detailed presentation on the State’s socio-demographic profile, health infrastructure, and progress in the health sector.
The department informed that Nagaland has recorded improvements in major health indicators. The Infant Mortality Rate has declined, while the Maternal Mortality Ratio and Total Fertility Rate have also improved over the years, indicating progress in maternal and child healthcare services.
Officials also briefed on the performance under the National TB Elimination Programme, including improvements in case detection and treatment outcomes. Areas such as timely disbursement under the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana and patient adoption were cited as requiring attention.
The Governor said, "There is a need for sustained focus on effective implementation of health programmes, particularly in remote and rural areas," and added that the department should continue its efforts to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
He also appreciated the department’s work in strengthening healthcare delivery and improving key health indicators.
