Governor stresses on donating blood

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya called on the people of the State to thank voluntary blood donors for their life saving gift of blood.

He noted that every year, June 14 is observed as World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness on the need for regular blood donation to ensure quality, safety and availability of blood for patients in need.

In a press release, Acharya further urged the citizens to come forward and donate blood as “it is one of the most significant contributions that a human being can make towards the society.”

“Blood donation is our human duty,” he maintained.

“We don't just need to give blood in the event of tragedies or emergencies. Instead, it should be a normal and routine part of our lives,” the Governor added.

Acharya also called on the university youth, NGOs, civil organisation, scouts and guides, ex servicemen, etc to organize blood donation camps on different occasions.

“It is a healthy gesture. We must keep this aptitude up at any cost. Our blood banks are running short of required blood. By organizing such blood donation camps we may help them to enrich their capacity and save precious human lives.”
