Kohima, February 22 (MExN): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has appealed all citizens to promote and preserve our mother tongue which is our first identity. “All of us should be proud of our mother language.”
On the occasion of ‘International Mother Language Day’ that was observed on February 21, Acharya in a press release said that “no one has an option to pick up his Mother tongue or his parents or his village or Nation. He/she is born without any option. It is God given. It is destiny. Respect and enjoy it.”
Stating that languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our tangible and intangible heritage, Acharya said each person’s mother tongue is given as a blessing by God.
“No matter how many different languages or dialect one may master, his individuality will remain as a member of his mother tongue society. You are born with your mother tongue and pass away only with that identity,” he added.
