Kohima, September 13 (MExN): With the objective to encourage the students of Nagaland to excel in the study of basic sciences, the Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi has instituted an award called the ‘Governor’s Excellence Award in Science Study of HSSLC Examination.’
The award will be given to the best six students in science stream with the following subject combination: Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) - 3 awards; Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) - 3 aAwards.
In both the categories, the winner will receive Rs 1,00,000, second and third will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
The following guidelines will govern the ‘Governor’s Excellence Award in Science Study of HSSLC Examination’:
• The award will go to the best six students in order of merit in the HSSLC Examination in science stream conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) subject combination – three students and Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) subject combination – three students.
• The award will carry a citation and cash prize.
• Students belong to any Indigenous Scheduled Tribe of Nagaland as notified by the Government from time to time only will be eligible for the award.
• The students should secure 80% or more in their aggregate to avail the award
• The student’s performance in PCM and PCB will determine the award in each category.
• The best students in PCM and PCB combination will be selected in order of mark secured and it will be placed as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category i.e. students who have opted Mathematics as their main elective subject as PCM category and students who have opted Biology as their main elective subject.
• The candidate scoring the highest aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) will be considered.
• In case of tie in the marks and aggregate, whosoever secures higher marks in the external marks of PCM or PCB will be considered.
• In case of another tie, the following norms shall be followed: PCB- the marks of Chemistry to be considered first and next the marks of Biology, whichever is higher; PCM- the marks of mathematics to be considered first and next the marks of Physics, whichever is higher.
• In case of further tie, the award will be shared.
