Strongly decrying the demanding of sanctioned money by various organizations whenever a scheme is sanctioned by the government, the Project Director of DRDA Peren, Kelei Zeliang has said that the government officials are afraid to implement the developmental schemes in the district.
Speaking as the Chief Guest after inaugurating waiting shed at Lamhai Namtsi village, Kelei Zeliang said that many local organizations mushroom up whenever there is words about a developmental scheme being sanctioned by the government, who are eagerly waiting to demand a part of the fund.
Zeliang strongly decried such practice of forming organizations just for the sake of demanding the fund money meant for development greatly hampers the effective implementation of the schemes besides breeding suspicion in the minds of the people about misuse of the fund which ultimately bring about more problems.
In this regard, Kelei Zelaing appealed the people not to spread rumours about the developmental schemes and funds and go about demanding money from the government officials without ascertaining and knowing the actual sanctioned money.
Also, Kelie Zeliang urged the villagers to utilize the grant in aid provided by the government judiciously for developing the village. He disclosed that every village household is receiving Rs 1000 per year in the form of grants; however Zeliang strongly lamented that after more than twenty five years of receiving grants from the government, there have been no notable achievements in the area termed such misuse the grants as ‘horrible’.
Nonetheless, Zeliang said that more development will be provided and added that the inauguration of the waiting shed is just the beginning.
About the waiting shed, the Chief Guest said that it has been constructed by the DRDA under the SRGY (Block allocation) during 2007-08. He urged upon the villagers to have a sense of belongingness and protect and preserve the shed as their own. Kelei Zeliang also
ppreciated the villagers for judiciously utilizing the fund, besides giving voluntary labor during the construction of the shed.
The waiting shed which is located at the road junction leading to six villages in Lamhai Namtsi village in RD Block Peren, will felicitate the farmers by enabling them to assemble their products to be transported to other towns like Peren, Kohima, Dimapur and others places
Marketing shed inaugurated
Later in the day on November 5, a marketing shed was also inaugurated by the Project Director of DRDA Peren, Kelei Zeliang at Old Jalukie.
The marketing shed, which comes under the RD Block Jalukie, has been constructed under the SGRY (Block allocation) during 2007-08 by the Jalukie Pumling Mipui Organisation.
