DIMAPUR, JUNE 21 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has appointed Metongmeren Ao, IAS (Rtd.) as the new Vigilance Commissioner in the State Vigilance Commission for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. A notification to this effect was issued today by Additional Chief Secretary Lalthara. Metongmeren will take over the charge from Chief Secretary Lalhuma IAS, who is relieved of the charge of Vigilance Commissioner.
Informing of the terms and conditions of the new Vigilance Commissioner, the government in its notification stated that he will not be removed or suspended from office except in the manner provided for removal or suspension of the Chairman or a member of the State Public Service Commission under Article 317 of the Constitution.
Further, on ceasing to hold the office of the State Vigilance Commissioner, he shall not accept any further employment under the Union or a State Government or accept any political public office except in accordance with Article 319 of the Constitution.
Likewise, his functions and other conditions of service shall be governed by the resolution of the State Government as contained in resolution no. CON-58/75 dated 09-04-1976, the notification stated.Metongmeren will be given salary equivalent to the last pay drawn by him as an IAS officer in the suppertime scale, minus the pension being drawn by him. He will also be provided free furnished accommodation of a simple type or HRA at permissible percentage of basic pay.
