The state government has observed the random burning of jungles in various parts of the state with serious concern. It has not only caused ecological and environmental imbalances but is also endangering the lives and properties of the public. To curb the menace, a notice received here said, VDB grants to all government-recognized villages would be withheld if any instance of jungle burning by individuals or village community due to accident or negligence is found. This is also in line with the resolution adopted during the VDB and communitization conference held last year at Ganeshnagar, Dimapur, according to the department of Rural Development. All project directors have been directed to inform the village authorities/VDBs etc., in their respective jurisdiction for strict compliance to avoid consequences.
