The dramatic turn of the Peren District HQ site selection at New Peren by the Cabinet recently has led to an uproar of curious voices from various quarters while the District lies parched for development.
The broad perceptive decision of the Government to resolve and appease the long awaited desire of the people by sealing the issues were appreciated by a section of people while on the other hand, some are confused in deciphering the site selection by the Cabinet transcending the verdict endorsed by the Hoho.
The denizens are confounded and puzzled by the frequent proposals and shifting preferences from one to another site and are in a state of doubt as to whether this is a ‘policy matter’ of Government or a ‘vote catching’ ploy by vested politicians.
“We had offered our lands and stood by it in acceptance of the expert feasibility reports”, said a concerned land owner, while expressing doubt on whether the site selection will match and meet the aspiration of the masses.
“We can now expect the onslaught of developmental activities and move forward at par with our contemporaries at last”, remarked an area leader on the final site selection.
In the meant time, Hainkieng Hiaka, Chairman, Old Jalukie Village Council, who met this correspondent clarified the misnomer on the disputes among the land owners saying, “There never was and is no such conflicts, as alleged, among the land owners in Jalukie as far as my knowledge is concerned” when asked about the issue.
“We can now go home peacefully” said one of the villagers on hearing the declaration.
Amidst mixed responses, some citizens extended their appreciation towards the Peren villagers for wisely donating their lands for the benefit and prosperity of all concerned.
However, sparking a debate, a section of the people are of the view that the parent social organization, Zeliangrong Baudi, harnessed with the power and the responsibility of the area’s people, had been abdicated by the significant last minute development.
