Dimapur, February 20 (MExn): The Naga Council of Dimapur and Dimapur GBs today appreciated the government’s decision to instate advisory committees to chair municipal and civic bodies. In a message today, the council and the Dimapur GBs extended support and cooperation to the institution that is to man the responsibility of the civic bodies before the municipal elections are held again.
“This (advisory body mechanism) is laudable as it will ensure fair and judicious selection free from political interference which has resulted in tussles in the past that ruined the effective management of civic affairs ultimately rendering general public as losers,” the council said in its message.
“Dimapurians” appreciate the Nagaland Government’s decision to constitute advisory committees for municipal/town councils pending election to the various civic bodies; “we appreciate the decision to make respective DCs to recommend names for nomination,” according to the council.
The council appeals to the state government and the authorities in concern empowered, to “diligently adhere to the stipulated government criteria which will ensure both the cooperation of general public as well as ensure a balanced committee capable of catering to the urgent needs of Dimapur and its denizens.”
“We assure the government / district administration of all possible support and cooperation for the welfare of all citizens of Dimapur which cries for a facelift in civic development,” the Naga council added.
