
Dimapur, December 15 (DIPR): Dimapur Riphyim Union celebrated its Silver Jubilee on December 13 at Unity College Campus Residency Colony, Dimapur. Exhorting the gathering, Parliamentary Secretary, Irrigation & Flood Control, Geology & Mining and Border Affairs, Y. Patton appealed to the Union to keep aside petty differences among themselves and stand united to make the Union, in particular, and the society a better place to live in the days to come. Patton also urged the gathering to acknowledge the privilege that God has given to each one of us and utilize it for the benefit of the society.
Y. Patton said that the DAN Government is always ready to address the genuine needs and grievances of the people and the government is trying its best for the benefit and development of the state. He urged the gathering to give full cooperation to the government to bring all round development and prosperity in the state. He also urged the youth to avail the opportunity the state government has set up for the youth through the ‘Year of Capacity Building’ in activities like music, sports, arts etc. as a profession and industry to address the unemployment problem in the state.
The Parliamentary Secretary informed the gathering that the present government with assistance from the DMC has forwarded for further approval to change the nomenclature of the present Duncan Basti to Sanchisao Road. Lt. Sanchisao who is from Lotha community settled in Duncan Basti way back in 1941 and was the first G.B of the area. The other highlights of the programme included special numbers, exhortation by Union leaders followed by Jubilee feast. The programme was chaired by W. Tungoe, Retd. Deputy Secretary, Home.
