DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) today criticized the Nagaland State Government for not taking any steps to meet the demands of the union.
A press note from the ANCSU reminded it had submitted a memorandum, dated December 12, to the CM seeking his immediate attention in regard to “the burning issues in the state.” The ANCSU had also sought the attention of his cabinet colleagues to immediately take stock of the situation before the winter session for delivering justice to the students’ community.
The union’s demands included: to make alternative arrangement in disbursing Post Matric scholarship (PMS) to the ST students of Nagaland for the year 2106-17; to set up separate cell/nodal department for implementing/initiating all the scholarship schemes; to revoke P&AR Office Memorandum, dated October 26, 2017; and opposing the August 11, 2016 P&AR Office Memorandum.
“However, to our utter dismay the Chief Minister has not reacted or responded till date,” the union lamented. The ANCSU said it is not even sure whether the state government has taken the matter seriously because there have been no sign or action being initiated by the government till date. “The ANCSU as a student’s welfare organization has submitted the 4 charter of demands with great hope and anticipation having faith in the state government that justice shall be restored. The ANCSU condemn all the legislators for being irresponsible and negligent and not hearing the hue and cry of the students’ community at this point of time,” it added.
The union urged the Governor of the state to intervene in the matter and also asked the state government to immediately take note of the demands. Failing this, the ANCSU cautioned it would initiate its own course of action.
