Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): The Home department today issued a warning to the public to be vigilant against sending children outside the state without verifying the authenticity and integrity of the organizations given charge of the children. The Home department referred to the recent peddling of twenty children by one Dr. Henry and Mrs. Sarah Tangkhul who ill-treated and forced the children into labor in Andhra Pradesh with an organization called ‘EARE Ministry Harvest India.’
A public notice issued by Mhathung Kithan, Home Commissioner, advised the public to be vigilant and discerning in matters that require sending their children outside Nagaland. Proper verifications and scrutiny of agencies or organizations should be made. Their genuineness and integrity are to be verified, the Home Commissioner advised. The public is also advised to report such cases to the government or district administrations so the government can intervene, it stated.
The Home department cautioned that fraudulent organizations in the name of religion are operating in different parts of the country, and Nagaland is vulnerable to the unscrupulous elements. Referring to the Andhra Pradesh case, the Home Commissioner said the children were found to have been ill-treated, molested and forced to engage in constructions and manual labor.
The treatment was totally contrary to the assurances made by the said Dr. Henry and Sarah Tangkhul who promised good jobs, free education and various sponsorships. The said criminals Dr. Henry and Sarah Tangkhul are stated to be absconding and the government is trying to trace them, the Home department said.
