‘Govt lacks political will’ says EUUN

Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): The Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) has expressed “pain” to see that the government, industries and agriculture and allied department have failed to provide self-employment to the educated youth of the state due to gross corruption and mismanagement of affairs.

The EUUN in a press statement appended by its president Achilo Thong said; “The biggest problem faced by the younger generation is that the government of Nagaland lacks political will to solve unemployment problem. It can solve any kind of problems only if it has the political will to do so,” the Union said while adding that the Chief Minister of Nagaland must allow the CBI to investigate corruption in various departments like Tarun Gogoi, the Chief Minister of Assam who welcomed the CBI investigation in a number of departments for corruption and publicly declare that his government would not back officials involved. The Union alleged that government has not bothered to formulate policy favourable for eradication of unemployment in various fields provided by the government has benefited only a handful of youth and political activist.

The Union stated that except yearly political schemes like PMERGP and CMCF extending financial assistance to a handful of beneficiaries is negligible as lakhs of young people 20 years and above is “unemployed, partly employed, seasonally employed and not properly employed” with educational qualification ranging from matriculation to post graduation. The Union further alleged that “almost all the departments are rampantly embezzling the fund meant for the people causing multiplication of unemployment problem.” The EUUN expressed that all the schemes and projects implemented by various departments must be properly verified by the people of Nagaland led by state level NGOs instead of fighting separately.
