Wokha, April 21 (MExN): The Advisor of Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan inspected the Aree old and new abandoned PHC building during his visit to Aree Old and New and Okotso Village on April 20 and 21.
A DIPR report informed that the Advisor made a brief stoppage at Doyang Reservoir before embarking on his maiden tour. Briefing his entourage, who were mostly government officials from different departments, Advisor Mhathung mentioned that he being elected on people’s mandate urged them to come forward and extend full cooperation on implementing government policies and programmes to take his constituency as well the district forward.
While interacting with the people of the area, Mhathung said his main focus will be to uplift the economic status of the neglected sector in his constituency, which is why he said he has chosen these villages on his maiden official tour.
“The concerned area being one of the most under privileged and neglected area because of its difficult terrain and land lock area bounded by Doyang river basin, people are deprived of better healthcare system, education, road connectivity and other basic amenities. Delivering the people’s aspiration is a big challenge for me,” the Advisor added.
The Advisor assured the people that he will play a catalyst role on implementing government policy and programme to uplift economic status of the people. “Government will do its best to uplift the area,” however, he said, “the responsibility also lies with the people, how pro-actively they are responding to government policy and programmes.” He said that government alone cannot bring changes but people have to be enterprising and hard-working in order to move forward.
While acknowledging the difficulties faced by the government employees being posted there, he urged them to be in the station and serve the people and reminding them that they are the most enlightened people of the area who can bring a lot of impact through their services.
Director of Horticulture and MIDH, Dr. Elithung Lotha while interacting with the public said that to uplift the horticulture landscape of this particular area, the department provides logistic as well as technical know –how for the benefit of the people. Various department heads from the state, district and sub-division, who accompanied the advisor, also shared the department schemes and policy and urged the public to avail the opportunity for self- dependency.
