Govt Polytechnic Kohima gets new academic building

KOHIMA, JULY 16 (MExN): The new academic building of Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) was inaugurated on July 16 by Parliamentary Secretary for Higher and Technical Education, Deo Nukhu. The new building comprising of 3 classrooms was constructed with a financial assistance of Rs. 16, 86, 316 from the department of Technical Education. The classrooms will be used both for practical and theory classes.  

In his inaugural speech, Parliamentary Secretary, Deo Nukhu lauded the joint efforts given by the principal and staff of the Government Polytechnic Kohima in managing to construct the three classrooms within 2 months. He said that the Polytechnic has just a few courses as of now, but however stated happiness that the civil engineering course was introduced last year. He was also optimistic that the Polytechnic will be upgraded to a full-fledged engineering college soon.  

In the meantime, he encouraged the students to work hard and to be sincere in their studies and also expressed hoped that they will take their education to a higher level after they finish their Diploma courses.  

Director of Technical Education, Er Arjun Singh chaired the programme earlier. Other highlights of the event included invocation by Vichosunuo Kintso, Lecturer, special song by Keneisanuo Dzüvichü, brief report by Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, Principal, GPK, vote of thanks by Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, Lecturer and benediction by Keduhiwe Kapfo, Lecturer.
