Govt requests NFHRCC to ‘hold back agitation’

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Nagaland State Government has requested the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) to “hold back” its proposed agitation. 

The committee had on August 7 served a one month ultimatum to the Nagaland State Government to make the Foothill Road pliable. It had cautioned that agitation would begin on the expiry of the ultimatum’s deadline. 

A press release from the NFHRCC informed on Thursday that the government has asked the committee to hold back its protest. 

In a letter from the Principal Secretary for Road and Bridges (PWD) received on September 1, the State Government said that since both the Chief Minister and the Deputy CM (Minister, Home R&B (PWD) were out of station on official duty at New Delhi, the NFHRCC is requested “to hold back the agitation till their return and sit across the table for a positive outcome.”

The NFHRCC in a press release stated that they have “acknowledged with thanks in receiving a letter vide NoWH/R-6/2020(Pt)/ dated Kohima the 1st September 2021.”

Meanwhile, it reminded all concerned of the follow up consultative meeting with Dimapur based tribal hohos, various student bodies and well wishers which will be held on September 3 at 2:00 pm at the NFHRCC office in Khermahal, Dimapur.
