Chiephobozou | April 21
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that the increasing of vehicles day by day has necessitated widening of roads in many parts of the state and informed that the government had identified many routes and several road widening works are being taken up. Dedicating Chiephobozou Plaza here this morning, Rio however made it clear that the government will not consider compensations for such works and urged upon the people to take note of the same.
Re-emphasizing that peace is a pre-requisite for all round development and that the government was pursuing “peace for development and development for peace,” Rio said that the prevailing peace had made it easier to work together and urged upon all sections of the people to extend their unflinching co-operation to the government to deliver developmental activities.
Terming the relationship between the people and the government as an important component, Rio said that the government’s programmes and policies would not bring effective results unless people come forward and participate. In this respect, he called upon the people to actively involve themselves and implement various schemes in an effective manner.
Stating that the Nagas are blessed with rich culture and traditions, Rio said the rest of the world will “respect us and visit us” when we maintain our rare identity.
He called upon the people to give the ‘traditional touch’ while constructing buildings and at the same time put more innovative approaches to maintain their identity.
He further asked the people of Chiephobozou to maintain the plaza well so that it serves its purpose of being a place of resting place for visitors and travelers. Rio also planted a tree on the occasion.
Minister for Planning, Dr. Shurhozelie, President NAPO, Chupfhu-o Kense, Tseivilie Miachieo and Seyiekuolie Kesiezie also addressed the gathering.
The Plaza, situated in the main town, was constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.5 lakh in honour of the people’s representatives of Northern Angami.
