Dismayed by not getting a concrete response from the government regarding a special recruitment drive of 10 EAC for the less represented tribes, the four apex tribal students’ union - Rengma, Pochury, Chakhesang and Zeliang Students’ Unions today questioned the state government whether it is going to implement or cancel it.
The four tribal students’ unions told the press conference here today that it has been a year since the state government put the special recruitment drive of 10 EACs for the less represented tribes on hold.
It regretted that so far, there was no outcome whether to implement the special recruitment drive or cancel it.
Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU) President Penam said the 4 tribal students’ unions have decided to urge the state government to either implement or cancel the special recruitment drive within this month (October), failing which, they would be compelled to take their own course of action.
Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) President Thüpukütho Lohe also said they did not demand for it but that it was the decision of the government.
He regretted that many students from several parts of the country had come home to appear for the examination last year which was cancelled without any cabinet sitting.
“We were appreciating the government for such a policy for the less represented tribe”, he said, but since they have not reacted till today, we want the government to do something in this regard.
Others present at the press conference included Vtsenyhun Nsü, President of Rengma Students Union, Ruchiyhulo Buloh, RSU, Sharu Fithu, Vice President, Pochury Students Union, Atsopu Pfithu, PSU and Seve Vadeo, General Secretary, CSU.
