Kohima, June 17 (MExN): The annual general body meeting of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) was held at GPPK Hall, Chandmari here with Rupin Sharma (IPS), Director General of Police, Nagaland as the chief speaker of the inaugural session on June 16.
The DGP asked the Gorkha community to uphold the good relationship with the local people. He also said they should take rehab programme to improve the health of people addicted to alcohol, informed a press release from Information & Publicity Cell, GPPK.
The DGP also hoisted the GPPK flag and lit the lamp.
Santu Thapa delivered the presidential address, while former president and advisor GPPK Gayatri Devi, general secretary Nagaland Gorkha Association Prem Kumar Thapa, and GB Kamal Bahadur Chetri exhorted the gathering.
During the business session, reports were presented by General Secretary Suresh Kr Lama, Treasurer YB Rana, and Welfare Secretary Mohan Gurung.
Short speeches were also delivered by the GPPK advisors and the heads of GPPK sister organizations – Mahila Samity, Sahitya Kala Sanstha, youth association, and students’ union, the press release said.
Welcome song was presented by Gorkha Bishwakarma Pariwarik Welfare Society, while special number by Karishma and Binod enthralled the gathering.
