
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): The 2nd phase oath taking ceremony of the GRPN/NSCN was held on September 28. A total of 170 members comprising of Kilonsers, Deputy Kilonsers and Tatars participated in the Ceremony.
According to a MIP report, the programme was chaired by Achumthang Lotha, Chief Secretary GPRN/NSCN. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Hokiye Awomi MRA Kilonser, followed by welcome speech from Hukavi Yepthomi Kilonser Kilo Affairs. In his speech, he welcomed all the newly inducted members with warm wishes. Party discipline was read out by Nzanthung Lotha Secretary NTH and urged all the members to follow the rules diligently.
In a short speech, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi stressed on the importance of the ‘Agreed Position’ and its impact on the future of the younger generation in our society. He stated that thousand patriots joined in the national movement and gave their life following the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951. Zhimomi also observed that the killings could not solve any purpose and the only way to solve the problems is through political negotiations alone.
With that in mind, the GPRN/NSCN decided to declare ceasefire with the Government of India (GOI) and was followed by political negotiations which ultimately led to the signing of the ‘Agreed Position’ on November 17, 2017 between GoI and WC, NNPGs and concluded on October 31, 2019. RM Lotha President of GPRN/NSCN, during his speech, encouraged all the oath takers to have positive moral character and strong determination towards the Naga political issue and its early solutions. “If the GoI backtracks from implementing the already negotiated were observed. We cannot evade but to be succumbed with the same situation of pre-cease fire of new millennium and the GPRN/NSCN shall not be held accountable, in-case the hard-earned peace slips out of hand,” Lotha stated.
Oath taking ceremony was administered by Ebibemo Lotha Honble Speaker NTH and followed by benediction from Nochotole Yosa, Chaplin (Tatar).
